Looks like this little feller didn't make it back into the ocean before sunrise. Normally they come into land just after moonrise and lay their eggs and then slowly make their way back to the water. Some of them are just exhausted from the effort of laying and don't always make it back in time. Once the sunlight hits them BOOF! they turn into what may look like a rubber tyre but closer microscopic examination will reveal their organic origins.
