20/07/01: Postmortem
Well, another lan games over. The games were a great success, I think we had a peak of 11 people there, plus a few remote ring-ins (the German contingent in Counter-Strike gave us a run for our money). Matt enjoyed himself. Steve2 had problems with his network card (current theory is that with 7 fans in his case, it was just too damn cold for it to work), so he and Steve1 went out and bought hubs, network cards, and god knows what else. CounterStrike dominated play this time, with some good rounds of UT and a bit of Q3 thrown in for good measure. There was a small rebel force playing Diablo-II for a little while, so I think we'll get everyone up to speed on Diablo for the next games.
The event provided a good opportunity to give M$'s Internet Connection Sharing a good trying out. It sucked. Big time. Wouldn't even allocate IP's, let alone allow nat'd net access. Next time, I think we'll whack in a linux box. Speaking of next time, as there are heap'um people with cable now, things will probably go more of a Wan-games route, perhaps with a few people each at several people's houses. I might need to get busy setting up everyone with a linux firewall/nat box/cipe install first though. See how we go.
Thanks again everyone!
